Lachlan Anthony GDP, MCP, APS
Hello there! I'm a friendly and empathetic Australian psychologist based in Montpellier in the south of France. I work online with English speakers from all over France, and specialise in the various challenges faced by expats. I have a Master of Clinical Psychology from the University of Melbourne, and this training allows me to understand and treat a broad spectrum of mental health difficulties and disorders that many people face.

Prior to my career as a therapist, I worked in the creative advertising industry and ran a business for several years. I experienced first-hand the stress and pressure that everyday life can bring and
became increasingly interested in ways that could support myself and those around me. Through mindfulness meditation and reading psychology literature I was inspired to embark on a career as a clinical psychologist, which eventually led me to my current role at the Paris Psychology Centre.

My approach to therapy is based on my belief that we all experience difficulties and psychological distress at different times, and there are often understandable reasons for feeling this way. I will
work alongside you to help you increase your awareness and understanding of your challenges and to develop meaningful ways of moving forward. My practice is informed by Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Schema Therapy, as well as mindfulness-based practices.
I work with adults and young people aged 16+ and I have experience working with people from the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. I am happy to work with most mental health issues and have a particular interest in:
-
Depression
-
Anxiety & OCD
-
Trauma-related mental health difficulties
-
Stress & adjustment
-
Insomnia
-
Relationship & interpersonal problems
-
Substance-related problems
-
Attention & concentration issues, such as ADHD
-
Grief & loss
-
Self-esteem issues
-
Perfectionism
-
Anger
It takes courage to acknowledge your difficulties and seek professional help, and I appreciate that taking this first step can be challenging. I aim to develop a therapeutic relationship with compassion, trust, and effort, on both sides, and provide an environment where you feel supported and safe to explore difficult topics and be open with your emotions.
Together, we will work to understand the underlying patterns of your difficulties and tailor a treatment plan that is unique to you, using the most appropriate evidence-based practices. I am passionate about helping you find the language to understand your difficulties and the tools to live a full and meaningful life.

Does online therapy work as well as in person?
There has been a lot of research into this question over the past decade, and all indicators are that online therapy is just as effective as attending in person. How do I pay for sessions?
You can pay online with your credit card, and a link will be sent to pay via credit card after the session. We use Stripe, which is the most secure payment platform in the world. Direct deposit via bank transfer is also possible.

Will my insurance cover the sessions?
Many of our patients have their sessions reimbursed with private insurance (mutuelle). Psychology sessions are not covered under government healthcare (carte vitale) in France. A sample of the insurers we currently work with includes:
